Responsibility for engineering activities related to customer projects. Accountable to deliver customer contracts on Time, on Cost and on Scope. Work closely with Engineering Director in Departmental scheduling.
• Responsibility for managing the engineering portion of all customer projects.
• Accountable to deliver projects on Time, on Cost and on Scope.
• Ensure the customer’s Scope of Work is adequately defined to enable projects to be effectively managed and to protect the Company’s financial interests as set out in contracts with customers.
• Actively work with Sales and Finance to create accurate quotations that support company’s profitability targets while meeting customer requirements.
• Ensure quotations are progressed in a timely manner, in line with customer expectations.
• Forward planning of Contract engineering work ensuring optimisation of efficiencies. This includes the management of the following resource pools: internal, external, students.
• Work with the Engineering Director to develop departmental budgets and manage these to within planned targets.
• Lead and mentor the team members with a view to professional development, motivation and retention.
• Lead and motivate the team to achieve Departmental and Company objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement in Engineering processes.
• Look at bottlenecks in Engineering processes with the team and colleagues, present recommendations for improvement and implement solutions.
• Work with the Engineering Director to develop a technology roadmap applied to Timoney’s products, in line with Timoney’s value proposition and current technology trends.
• Work with the New Business Opportunities Leader and Sales & Marketing on investigating new business opportunities based on VoC data.
• Ensure product cost enables projected product GM for hardware. Reduce cost of Timoney products through appropriate components resourcing, VA/VE activities, modular build, manufacturing engineering etc.
• Foster a culture of continuous product quality improvements.
• Work with the Engineering Director to set up product quality KPI’s
• Identify current and future skill gaps needed to align with company objectives and Product Portfolio development plan. Work with the Engineering Director to define how to fill these gaps (training, hiring, outsourcing etc).
